Taking your pet abroad can be very daunting, so we are here to simplify the process and take the stress away.
From 1st January 2021, UK Pet Passports (issued in GB) were replaced with Animal Health Certificates for dogs, cats and ferrets travelling to the EU and Northern Ireland. These certificates must be supplied by an Official Veterinarian (OV). Other pet species can travel to the EU, but they need a different type of certificate.
If you would like to take your pet somewhere outside the EU or Northern Ireland (or you're travelling with an animal other than a dog, cat or ferret), a different type of certificate is needed - an Export Health Certificate (EHC).
We supply both types of certificate routinely and will guide you through the process of all that is required and when.
Some pets are not eligible for travel abroad. In order to go overseas, your pet must:
If you are taking your dog to Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Malta, Finland or Norway, they will need to have a tapeworm treatment that is approved by the destination, 24-120 hours (1-5 days) before arrival.
If you are travelling to one of these places, we ask that you contact your regular provider to obtain the treatment and have it ready to be given to your dog during your appointment.
If your pet has an EU pet passport that was not issued in Great Britain, and you are travelling to the EU and Northern Ireland, then they may not need an Animal Health Certificate.
